The
Severn Sound Beach Monitoring program monitors the environmental quality of
Severn Sound public swimming areas to assess quality for beach closings.
Thirteen public swimming areas are monitored by SSEA and five sites are sampled
by Parks Canada staff on a weekly basis during the summer. Sampling consists of
taking indicator bacteria at each site and recording other information such as
temperature, pH, weather conditions, bather load and preceding precipitation.
