Well Aware

Well Aware encourages Ontario's well owners to protect their wells and our common groundwater supplies. Well Aware is a project of Green Communities Canada. This project has received funding support from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. The Well Aware Booklet and website are endorsed by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors - Ontario Branch, Conservation Ontario, and the Ontario Federation of Agriculture.  Well Aware Home Visits

Well Aware home visits, conducted by trained Water Guides, help rural well owners identify priorities for action to protect their drinking water source. The visits, which are voluntary, confidential, and non-regulatory, guide well owners through a self-assessment to help identify and address potential risks to their well water.

 Guided Self-Assessments

The guided self assessment offers well owners an excellent opportunity to make a few simple changes that can have a huge impact on their water quality. It gives people practical ideas on maintaining a healthy well, septic system, and minimizing other sources of contamination.

The service includes recommendations on well maintenance and upgrading, properly sealing unused wells, water conservation, yard naturalization and septic system best management.

The Water Guide can provide solutions to individual concerns and troubleshoot specific well and septic problems as well as help well owners understand when they need to call a licensed well contractor for repairs or upgrading.

Contact 527-5166 to arrange your Well Aware home visit. These visits are generously funded by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment.
